About Royal Victoria Chapel

The Royal Victoria Chapel is a unique historic venue on the south coast, set against the stunning backdrop of the Royal Victoria Country Park and Southampton Water.

Originally the Chapel for the Royal Victoria Hospital which was commissioned by Queen Victoria, the building is now deconsecrated but licensed for civil ceremonies.  Beautifully restored in 2018, it provides a blend of elegance, beauty and tradition in a country park setting. It’s a jewel in Hampshire’s glorious crown.

Celebrate your special day in this most special of venues and enjoy the unique opportunity to mark your wedding by climbing the Chapel tower together and chiming the Chapel bell!

We have two licensed venues for wedding ceremonies - the main Chapel hall, which is licensed for up to 200 people (196 guests) and the Waterview Room on the 2nd floor of the Chapel overlooking Southampton Water, which is licensed for up to 30 people (26 guests).

Hi Ursula and Ian.I just want to say a massive massive thank you for everything you did leading up to our wedding. What a team you have been! Ursula thank you for your patience, your kindness, your resilience (when myself and my bridesmaids came across a bit bossy I’m sure), the care and effort you put into the wedding. Ian, the food was absolutely amazing, I couldn’t fault it in anyway. Everyone commented on how lovely the food was. Thank you so much for the hard work you put into making sure everything was just right. You two did such a good job, on the day but also the lead up to the wedding. You should feel very proud of what you achieved on Saturday. I hope you enjoyed it and it wasn’t too stressful! Please pass on my massive thanks to all of the staff, but in particular the volunteers who gave up their time to show my guests up the Chapel tower, it was such a great touch to the wedding and we are very grateful.

Dear Ursula and Ian, Just a thank you to say thank you for the most amazing day of our lives. You were both amazing to work with from the moment we met you. The food was amazing and so many of our guests said it too. You were always one step ahead of the game and nothing was too much. Honestly I can’t thank you enough. Very best wishes to both of you - Royal Vic is lucky to have you! Best wishes, Emily and Alex

Good morning Ursula,Just wanted to say a massive thank you to you and your team of volunteers for Saturday. Thank you so much for helping us have such a fantastic day. Everyone loved the Chapel and thought it was beautiful. Thank you for your brilliant ideas as we came and looked round it at the end of January, sweet stand, where the cake should go, and also for being so accommodating to our random ideas. All the volunteers on Saturday night were extremely friendly and unbelievably helpful. You work with a lovely team.

I'm so pleased you're considering the Royal Victoria Chapel at Netley Abbey as the venue for your wedding. I was here when the newly-restored Chapel was opened in 2018 as a heritage centre and unique venue for events and celebrations and can promise you it's somewhere very special. We only host a handful of weddings each year, so it really is an exclusive opportunity if you choose to celebrate your special day with us.
