The Morritt Hotel is a wedding venue and spa hotel situated in County Durham, in North East England. From the formal gardens to the pretty hamlet of Greta Bridge, this boutique hotel provides a picturesque backdrop for romantic celebrations. Situated near the historic market towns of Richmond and Barnard Castle, this is an idyllic spot in which to mark your wedding journey.

Facilities and Capacity
The Morritt Hotel is licensed to host civil ceremonies, both indoors and in the beautiful secret garden during mild summer months. This versatile venue caters for all events, whether you envisage an intimate micro wedding for 20 loved ones or a grand-scale gathering for 200 guests. There are multiple event spaces at this location, from the romantic Garden Room to the stunning Ballroom and the oak-adorned Gilroy's Dining Room. The Ballroom is the largest space and can host 200 people for formal sit-down meals or 200 for casual buffets and dancing afterwards. This function room is characterized by ambient chandelier lighting, wooden accents, and large windows that allow natural light to pour in. For more intimate occasions, Gilroy's Dining Room seats 50 people. During your wedding celebrations, guests can explore the landscaped grounds or relax in the many cosy and comfortable lounges throughout the hotel.

    Hi Clare,Hope you had a lovely rest of the weekend - we’re slowly coming down to earth following Friday!I wanted to message to say a huge thank you to yourself and all of the staff on Friday, you were sensational - we’ve had such great reviews from all of our friends and family. Appreciate there were a lot of us but the team were truly excellent. Thanks to Andy for doing all the intros too!!Also, please pass our thanks onto the chef - again, food for that many people can be challenging but the kitchen knocked it out of the park. The food was sublime and again, we’ve had really lovely feedback from friends echoing the same. A special mention to the Parmos - which were unreal and testament to that is the fact four of our vegetarian friends at them (nic is affectionately now calling this parmageddon 😂).However, the biggest thank you from us goes to yourself. I know we haven’t always been the easiest but you have been phenomenal in dealing with all of our requests and bringing our vision to life, particularly given your recent losses. The tables were stunning (video below) and I’m sorry those dinosaurs were a pain!! Thank you also for dealing with our suppliers on our behalf, it meant us not stressing on the day and for that I really am so appreciative.I will post some photos etc shortly and ensure you guys are tagged but was just waiting for some of the official photos.     The Morritt Hotel has always been a special venue for me as I joined the team for my first job when I turned 14 and did my first 5 years of the working experience within this hotel. So years later when the opportunity came up to return back, how could I pass it up. The team here are amazing and nothing is too much. So when looking at your venues, don't forget it is the people within it that also make the experience.
