About The Mowbray

Originally built in 1889 as a steel merchants for a prominent Sheffieldian - The Mowbray comes complete with a beautiful set of sliding factory doors - and a beautiful red brick architecture that sits beautifully against the industrial landscape. The building has huge historic charm complete with magnificent arched windows that allow for sensational light and atmosphere. 

The Mowbray is luxuriously historic with a gentle splendor and a story behind even the smallest item and touchpoint. All of our lighting and furniture has been custom made from reclaimed treasures - including our antique '40's chandelier allowing for a beautiful authentic experience.  Our trademark candlelight glows from every table and ledge, push past our soft velvet green drapes and let yourself be completely absorbed in the romantic glow that The Mowbray is famed for... 

We also have a private first floor rooftop -‘Up On The Roof’ is a complete hideaway escape with leafy green views over Park Wood Springs and the historic rooftops of Neepsend. Complete with a rooftop bar - included with every wedding, a British flower garden and plenty of places to relax and enjoy Garden Cocktails and our BBQ. You’ll also find The Cabin - a secret hideaway for photos and quiet moments! 

We are all about social wedding feasting - and our reclaimed tables are laden with fresh, seasonal food straight from The Mowbray’s Kitchens - where we make everything from scratch.

We have a beautiful 100 year old mahogany drinks cabinet that forms our cocktail bar - where we serve up seasonal cocktails and carefully selected wines. Guests enjoy long lazy wedding feasts before dancing till the stars come out…

We are proud to champion restoration, Sheffield craftsmanship, sustainable design and re-purpose of beautiful items throughout our interior. Alongside our independent spirit and fantastic team - it's what gives The Mowbray its famed special vibe.

We love small but important touches - that all add beauty and ambience to what we do - including our own coffee blend from our inner city cafe - Mow’s - to custom artwork for The Mowbray and The Chimney House - and a bespoke incense for the buildings. And - of course we have bespoke Sheffield cutlery for your wedding feast!

Lucy was so accommodating and quick to respond to our emails.On the day, the staff were super friendly and attentive - many of our guests commented on how lovely everyone was! Georgina made sure that everything ran smoothly, leaving us to enjoy the party!Although we actually booked the venue before we’d tried the food, attending a supper club event confirmed we’d made the right choice. Our guests were absolutely blown away by the food and many told us it was the best wedding food they’d ever eaten.     "Attempting to put into words just how incredible The Mowbray, The Chimney House and all their wonderful, talented staff are - it’s a near impossible task, but I’m going to give it a go!These venues are truly unique, the buildings have so much soul, and attention to every detail is just perfect. From the beautiful Sheffield-made cutlery, the tables made from old gym floors to the antique vases and candlesticks, and of course, the beautiful Art Deco lighting! They even have the most beautiful incense that’s unique to the venues! Don't forget The Mowbray Wedding Cake - Each Mowbray Wedding Cake is magical. Freshly made 'on the day' in The Mowbray’s Kitchen it is a light as a dream ‘special recipe’ Victoria with layers of buttercream, delicious jam and indulgently divine. Designed to match The Mowbray - our wedding cake is elegantly luxurious with a real Sheffield touch! We’ll even dress your cake with perfectly picked florals from one of our house florists for a wild gypsy hedgerow feel with cascades of romance and wanderlust.
