About The Owl Barn

Are you looking for a venue that allows you to bring your own style and approach to your wedding celebration?  A venue that is bespoke and unusual, one that has the option to bring together the suppliers of your choice, without being influenced into set, specific packages?

Our Owl Barn wedding venue has been crafted to reflect just that.  We believe our space is special.  It is beautiful and wild and completely tailorable to the vision you have for your big day.  We specialise in intimate, creative and personal celebrations and are proud to be one of only a very small number of locations in Yorkshire, to offer an elopement service.

We are licenced to host civil ceremonies (although you do not have to have your legal marriage on site) both inside our barn and outside in our woodlands and nature areas.  We can create a package for you where everything is taken care of, alternatively you can hire our site and land and host your own DIY style wedding.  Our onsite accommodation also offers the opportunity to have an extended wedding celebration over several days.

We are an inclusive wedding venue and we understand that not everyone is looking for a traditional approach. As a family run business, we spend time getting to know you, your vision and your requirements. We work hard to assist in creating a beautiful, bespoke wedding whether it be just the 2 of you, or for 200 of you! Guess what? We also understand that children and pets can be integral to a wedding celebration too, so of course you can have a tortoise ring bearer or a pooch for a best man!

    This was the first venue we viewed one year ago and we instantly fell in love with the views and setting and new instantly this was the place for us. There is such a tranquil , peaceful feel and perfect for any kind of wedding We got married near the jetty by the pond and hired a tipi on the land beside it. We had an intimate wedding with 16 guests who all stayed in the pods. We had so much fun all weekend, lighting the firepits, bbqs, playing games, watching the sunrise, the area is so open and beautiful we all thoroughly enjoyed it.

    Wow, what a venue. It had absolutely everything we needed for our perfect day. Intimate ceremony in the beautiful barn with drinks in the courtyard for immediate friends and family, use of the large field at the top of the site for our large drinks reception and wedding breakfast, guest glamping in the field next to the marquee and a breakfast BBQ down by the ponds the following day. Our guests were even treated to a show of the cows on their way too and from milking. The site is stunning, the perfect Yorkshire picture, and the cabins are really lovely - ideal for our first night as a married couple. Joanne was a complete super star, nothing was too big an ask, and I particularly appreciated her helping ferry me (the bride) and bridesmaids around the site on the day!

    The Owl Barn is one of the most relaxing and beautiful places we have visited. We chose to have our wedding in the beautiful, rustic, barn. Jo and her team are fantastic! They go above and beyond to make sure your big day is extra special. The wedding packages on offer are amazing. Thanks to Jo and her wedding planning skills our elopement was stress free and just how we imagined it to be.

    From the moment we met Joanne and saw the unbelievable setting, we knew that we'd found the perfect venue to host our wedding day. A DIY wedding can feel like a daunting task but the natural beauty of the location was so incredible, we knew that whatever we did, it would be stunning regardless. From the resident owl, to the wild grasses, the pond life, to the amazing view - our 70 x guests were just as blown away with how beautiful it was as we were. Joanne was fabulous from start to finish, always on hand with help and advice and was an absolute powerhouse on the day itself, pulling out all the stops to ensure we had the most memorable day possible. We didn't want to conform to all the traditions and wanted to create a day around us, which Joanne and this venue actively encourages. No idea was too big or too difficult, we were able to plan our day exactly as we wanted it, decorating exactly how we envisioned and using all the suppliers we preferred. If we were to do it all again, we wouldn't change a single thing and we can't wait to return to celebrate special occasions for years to come.
