About Traquair

Traquair is Scotland's oldest inhabited house.

Traquair House has an extraordinary history spanning over 900 years and has strong associations with Mary Queen of Scots and the Jacobites. It is open to the public daily from Easter to October and is also a superb wedding venue particularly suited to smaller more intimate weddings.

There is a Catholic Chapel in one of the wings of the House (seats 50) that can be used for any denomination. In the House the 18th century High Drawing Room is suitable for receptions (max 50) and the ground floor Dining Room can dine up to 34 guests.

The grounds have several superb locations to site marquees and outside ceremonies can also be arranged in the yew tree circle, old walled garden, Cupid's garden and even in the Traquair Maze.

Traquair also offers four luxurious rooms all furnished with antique furniture and four poster beds which can be hired on a bed and breakfast basis. Guests are also given exclusive use of the Lower Drawing Room in the evenings.

Another unique aspect of Traquair is the eighteenth century working brewery which produces the world famous Traquair Ales which can be provided bottled or on draught for your wedding reception.

Thank you for your interest in Traquair - such a unique and beautiful historic venue. I've been looking after weddings and visitors here at Traquair since 2018, following 10 years in the arts and events industry, and my passion is people and planning. I'm on hand each day to help you plan your wedding day and will be there on the day itself too to make sure everything runs smoothly. We are a small team here at Traquair, who like to provide a very personal service to all our wedding couples.
